Set up Todoist Free for daily tasks

Todoist Free Plan costs nothing and supports up to five projects per user. The Deutsche Social Collaboration Studie 2026 indicates many firms remain stuck in pilot phases with new tools.

Create account

Go to todoist.com and select the free registration. Enter name, email and a password. The system creates the account at once. Skip this step and everything stays on paper or scattered lists with no traceability.

Create first project

After login click the plus next to Projects. Name it “Daily Tasks” and pick red color for quick visibility. The project appears in the left sidebar immediately. Without this step there is no central collection and single tasks disappear.

Add tasks

Click the plus inside the new project. Type a task such as “Check invoices” and set a due date to today. Repeat for three more entries. Miss this step and the project stays empty with zero visible benefit.

Assign labels

Open a task and click the label icon. Create the label “Administration” and assign it. Repeat for other categories. Skip labels and later filters become useless while sorting takes extra time.

Install mobile app

Download the Todoist app from App Store or Google Play and sign in with the same account. Enable notifications. Without the app you miss deadlines whenever you are away from the desk.

Common misconfiguration

Many users create too many projects and hit the five-project limit. Then no further items can be added until old projects are archived. How often this occurs cannot be reliably quantified, yet it halts work instantly.
