Extract industry data with Octoparse
Octoparse 8.6 on the free plan sets up extraction of competitor prices. The process runs in six steps and fails when a proxy setting is wrong.
Octoparse 8.6 on the free plan costs zero euros and permits 10000 records per month according to the vendor site dated August 2026.
-
Download the installer from octoparse.de and run it on the Windows machine. Without version 8.6 the captcha bypass and pagination features are missing, so later steps never begin.
-
Create a new task project and enter the target URL of the competitor site. Skip this step and the job has no starting point; Octoparse shows only an empty preview.
-
Mark the required fields with the point-and-click mode: product name, price and availability. Omit the marking and the tool later exports only empty rows.
-
Activate pagination and infinite scroll inside the task editor. Without these settings extraction stops after the first page and yields at most 20 records instead of the expected 500.
-
Enter a proxy server from the local network or a free rotating proxy service. Leave this step out and the target site blocks the IP after 30 requests; the whole job fails.
-
Start the task on the local machine and download the CSV file after 15 minutes. The export often fails here because the free plan does not allow automatic cloud runs and the local session crashes after 30 minutes.
The method does not apply to sites with heavy JavaScript protection or login walls. In those cases Octoparse 8.6 is insufficient.
